BOC Working Money

Brief

To encourage employee engagement at all levels of financial literacy so that employees can make informed decisions about retirement planning. The ultimate objective is retention and a broader understanding of the BOC offer.

Execution

  • To meet the brief of reaching a wide cross section of employees from truck drivers and storemen to office workers and executives, AHC developed a multi-media strategy based on a clear financial education syllabus.
  • The web-based solution involved streaming eTV using studio and workplace settings, professional interviewers, staff and actors.
  • Different learning styles were catered for through the web-based tutorials and the physical workbook. DVDs supplemented those with poor internet connections. The interactive website was data driven and could store and allow review of personal data through a secure login.
  • Materials were also linked to the UK government sponsored ‘Learn About Money’ program previously developed by AHC with the support of BOC and other employers.

Outcomes

  • The strong working partnership between BOC and AHC resulted in a powerful program that is currently being rolled out to all employees.
  • Initial feedback is of high levels of engagement and acceptance at different levels of financial literacy.
  • The expected outcome is stronger employee engagement, more positive activity and retention of members in the BOC Pension Fund.
